Another short day in the shop. We decided to add a racing strip along the neck length. Tried Koa but it just wasn’t that interesting against the mahogany. However, found a colorful piece of Lychee in the bin. Milled it to about 1/8″ wide and did a glue-up with 2 strips of maple (less than 1/16″ wide) for contrast, one on each side. As you can see, I embrace the “you can never have enough clamps” mantra.
Played around with the new neck scarf cutting jig. As you can see in the photo, the angle is a perfect 15 deg. Jigs are a wonderful thing.
There we go, a racing stripe for Ma-halo Markie!
15 degrees exactly, I would expect nothing less from Mr Perfection!
Even more impressive is the array and shear quantity of clamps.
Less impressive however is your attention to safety….. sandals in the wood-shop, really? We don’t want the master luthier dropping something sharp on his tootsies now do we?
Joking aside, it is brilliant to watch the progress and attention to detail. Looking forward to the next post.
