Another multi-day and must-task post.  Trying to catch up!

The first task was creating channels and adding binding; a decorative stripe running along the edges of the ukulele.  One photo does not do this task justice.  In many ways, this is still a challenge to get right, although these came out nice.  Routing a channel along the soundboard is straight forward.  Routing the backside channel is challenging as the back is arched.  I have a jig, of course, but I’ve been known to really mess this one up.  See my recent tenor that shows how easy it is to gouge out your beautiful ukulele.  Fortunately today was a good day.  Binding…check!

Next is adding a mortise/tenon joint to the neck and body.  I’ve modified a jig available from Robert O’Brien to support ukuleles.  Very slick jig as it enables you to compensate any build issues or easily adds a neck back-angle if desired.  Neck joint…check!

Finally a spent a a good number of hours sanding the neck to shape.  Too dusty to pull out the camera, sorry.  Neck shaped…check!
