The afternoon was cutting and glueing on what will become the headstock. I built YAJ (yet another jig) to precisly cut a 15deg angle off the last 5″ of the neck piece. Once cut, you flip that shorter piece (what will be the headstock) over and glue it up onto the opposite side of the cut. Very pleased with the jig as the resultant angle was 15.05 degrees! Not bad.
What I’m really pleased about is the racing stripe actually lined up! I mentioned in a previous post I had to make each laminate piece to razor-thin tolerances. When you cut and flip over the headstock section of the neck, any error will show up in a mis-aligned stripe…and the eye can detect the slightest deviance. As the photo shows, it worked!!!
