How can this ukulele have a plain bridge, right?  On my “Under the Palm Tree” ukulele, I get quite a few positive comments for a set of burned-in Honu (Hawaiian turtles) on the bridge.  I thought it would be nice, therefore, to add a bit of flair to the bridge on this uke too.

I needed a new style of bridge that would allow inlays without getting too large.  I came up with an angular design that provides nice flat surfaces for inlays without increasing the bridge size (about 4″ x 1″).  I really like how the small spaceship and aliens turned out so on they went.

What was so rewarding were these inlays are remarkably small with some areas less than 1mm (0.039″) wide.  On the neck alien heads, I filled the alien eyes with black CA glue.  This time, I carved the alien into the ebony bridge but left the ebony intact for where the eyes go.  The fit of the alien head into the bridge inlay cavity has a 0.001″ tolerance and it fit like a glove!

Very cool.
